Document Types

This feature configures the codes and information that will be passed to the CMS associated with the documents that are included in the submission.

When a filer addes documents to the submission they are asked what type of document they are including. For each document the filer enters this feature defines the following:

During the design and configuration process Tybera assists the court in configuring this page. This list will reflect the number of document codes that are configured in the case management system. For example, if the court has 900 document codes then there should be a similar number of entries in this table. As part of the design process Tybera asks the court to create a spread sheet that includes the codes, description, whether it is a part of a new case or follow-up case, and if fees are required. Tybera then loads the tables with this information. Later the court may wish to change or update this information.

Most courts need attachments. Attachments are used to identify documents that are exhibits or secondary parts of a document. For example, limits are set on how big a document can be in size. Most courts limit a document to 250 pages or 2 MegaBytes in size. If a document is larger than the limit they are required to break the document into smaller parts. The court may wish to create a document code for Chapter 2, Chapter 3, and so forth so the filer can break their large documents down. The attachment feature then causes eFlex to ask the filer what document the attachment is associated with when they add the document to the submission. If they try to add an attachment before they have added the main document the attachment is associated with they will not be able to identify any association.

Fees can be required, optional, or not required. If a fee is required or optional the Review and Approve screen asks for payment information. If a fee is required the Review and Approve screen will not move forward if the filer does not enter payment information. There are some exceptions to this when fee waivers are allowed.

This feature works in conjuction with the category feature. The information the filer sees is based on a combination of this feature and the category feature. The category feature is a filter for this feature.
